1. SHEDAUR SANDERS (COLORADO) – 6’2” 215 LBS.
Sanders is my top QB going into the season. He played his first two seasons at Jackson State where he accounted for 79 TTD and only 14 INT. I like his poise and toughness. He has a quick release and throws with touch and accuracy. I think he is the most accurate quarterback in this draft class. He is a smart football player with very good field vision who can make throws at all three levels. Sanders played behind a bad offensive line and a very predictable offense a season ago. He still needs to do a better job getting rid of the football getting sacked 110 times in three seasons.
2023 STATS: 3,230 PYDS – 69.3 COMP % - 31 TTD
2. CARSON BECK (GEORGIA) - 6’4” 220 LBS.
Beck will be entering his fourth season at Georgia and his 2nd season as a starter. Beck is another player who sees the field well and locates his 2nd and 3rd receivers. He possesses a strong arm and has surprising mobility that enables him to avoid rushers and escape to get yards with his feet. Good command of his offense that throws with touch and anticipation.
2023 STATS: 3,941 PASS YDS – 72.4 COMP % - 28 TTD
3. QUINN EWERS (TEXAS) – 6’2” 195 LBS.
24/7 Sports has Quinn Ewers tied for 1st as the highest-rated high school recruit since 2000. When you watch him, the traits are obvious. He has great arm strength, a quick release, and good athleticism. He did show improvement from his first year, but he still has areas to improve. He does not always trust what he sees, bails from the pocket too early, and drops his eyes when pressured. He can make the off-platform throws but needs to improve his footwork, missing on too many easy throws. If he can continue to show progress, he could easily end up being the top pick in the draft.
2023 STATS: 3,479 PYDS – 69 COMP % - 27 TTD
4. CAM WARD (MIAMI) - 6’2” 223 LBS
No one has accounted for more of his team's offense in the last two seasons than Ward did at Washington State. He was often under pressure and did an excellent job getting away from rushers and making accurate throws on the run. He has a quick release, and is a good athlete, with a strong arm. We did see improvement from his second year at Washington State. This year at Miami I would like to see him play more within the structure of the offense, get the ball out quicker, and instead of forcing a ball to pick up yards with his legs.
2023 STATS: 3,735 PYDS – 66.6 COMP % - 33 TTD
5. Conner Wiegman (Texas A&M) 6'3"215 LBS.
In 2022 came in as a true freshman to start the last four games and gave the Aggies a spark throwing 8 TD – 0 INT. He started the first four games of 2023 before suffering a season-ending injury. The former five-star quarterback has the tools and could end up being one of the better quarterbacks if he can stay healthy in 2024.
2023 STATS: 979 PASS YDS - 68.9 COMP % - 8 TD
6. JALEN MILROE (ALABAMA) – 6’2” 220 LBS.
Milroe was benched early after the loss at Texas. When the offense struggled the following week vs USF Milroe took back the starting job. He never looked back winning ten games in a row. Milroe is an athletic quarterback who is at his best making plays with his feet. He does have a nice arm and did a good job completing the deep ball. If he is going to succeed as a Quarterback at the next level, he needs to improve his footwork and his mechanics.
2023 STATS: 2,834 PYDS – 65.3 COMP % - 35 TTD
7. JAXSON DART (OLE MISS) – 6’2” 220 LBS.
Dart is one of the more underrated QBs in college football and has a chance to make a run at the Heisman this season. I thought he showed improvement in his 2nd year starting at Ole Miss. Dart does not have any wow traits when watching him, but you love his toughness and confidence. Was better at throwing outside the numbers than he was in the middle of the field.
2023 STATS: 3,364 PYDS – 65.1 COMP % - 31 TTD
8. RILEY LEONARD (NOTRE DAME) – 6’4” 212 LBS.
Leonard spent his three previous seasons at Duke before transferring to Notre Dame this off-season. Last year was a down year as he only played in seven games with an ankle and toe injury. In 2022 he showed promise making plays with both his legs and arm.
2023 STATS: 1,102 PYDS – 57.6% - 7 TTD
9. DILLON GABRIEL (OREGON) – 5’11” 204 LBS.
Gabriel has a chance to become the all-time leading passer in College Football. He currently sits 8th 14,865 yards and would need 4,353 pass yards to pass Case Keenum. He has been a productive player at both UCF and Oklahoma. He lacks size and does not possess great arm strength, but I think it has gotten better. He can make plays with his feet with twelve rushing touchdowns a season ago. I expect Oregon not to skip a beat this season with Gabriel running that offense.
2023 STATS: 3,660 PYDS – 69.3 COMP % - 42 TTD
10. DREW ALLAR (PENN STATE) 6’5” 243 LBS.
Allar was a player I had big expectations for going into the 2023 season. We thought he would be first-team all-conference a season ago. He has the size with a powerful arm and solid mobility. The supporting cast was not great, receivers had trouble getting separation and catching the football. He was also under pressure despite having three offensive linemen that were drafted. The offense lacked creativity and fired Mike Yurcich after the Michigan game. I am holding out hope that we see Allar reach his potential with the hire of Andy Kotelnicki.
2023 STATS: 2,631 PYDS – 59.0 COMP % - 25 TD
SLEEPERS
GARRETT NUSSMEIER (LSU)
I debated between both Nussmeier and Wiegman at number five. Both have great potential I gave Wiegman #5 because he has more starts under his belt. Nussmeier has attempted 219 passes during his three years at LSU. He is a rhythm passer and was not that impressive coming off the bench or to start the bowl game vs Wisconsin. After being shut out in the 1st quarter the Tigers scored 35 points and Nussmeier led the team on a game-winning drive. He has an impressive arm and will play behind an exceptionally good offensive line with good receivers at his disposal.
CADE KLUBNIK (CLEMSON)
NOAH FIFITA (ARIZONA)
BEHREN MORTON (TEXAS TECH)
DONOVAN SMITH (HOUSTON)
PRESTON STONE (SMU)
BROCK VANDAGRIFF (KENTUCKY)
SMALL SCHOOL PROSPECTS
Jacob Zeno out of UAB was a four-star prospect who enrolled at Baylor in 2019. He transferred to UAB in 2022 and became the starter in 2023. He has the size and one of the liver arms in this draft class. He set UAB records for completions, and completion %, while throwing for second most yards in a season.
MARK GRONOWSKI (SOUTH DAKOTA STATE) is another small school prospect we would like to highlight. He started as a true freshman earning MVFC newcomer and freshman of the year. He led his team to back-to-back FCS championships (2022&2023). He looks the part (6’2” 225 LBS) and has a solid arm with the ability to make plays with his feet. At times you see him late on his throws and could do a better job hitting his receivers in stride. He has 70 Pass TD’s and 27 Rush TDs in three seasons.
KAIDON SALTER (LIBERTY)
BYRUM BROWN (SOUTH FLORIDA)
TJ FINLEY (WESTERN KENTUCKY)
SETH HENIGAN (MEMPHIS)
JOEY AGUILAR (APPALACHIAN STATE)
CAM MILLER (NORTH DAKOTA STATE)
ZACK ZEBROWSKI (CENTRAL MISSOURI)
